Learn more about multifactor authentication at sc.edu/multifactor.

Once you have been admitted to the university and have claimed your university account, you should always use your network username (or NetID) for logging in to university systems. VIP IDs are not used to access anything after this point.

For more information, read the overview of accounts article.

Students should connect to the eduroam wireless network on campus.

You must enter @ds.sc.edu behind your Network Username in order to connect to eduroam. For example, if your Network Username is jdoe, you must enter jdoe@ds.sc.edu, not just jdoe to connect to eduroam. Detailed instructions are available:

Gaming systems, streaming devices, and smart TVs must be registered before connecting to WiFi. Our IT Knowledge Base covers how you can register your devices

Computers, smartphones, and tablets can connect to eduroam WiFi without needing to be registered.

Leave these at home:

  • Wireless printers are not allowed on the campus network. If you have a wireless printer, the wireless feature must be turned off while the printer is on campus. You can connect to the printer via USB or Bluetooth.

A computer is highly recommended, but not required. If you are purchasing a new computer, check out our computer purchasing discounts.

The Division of Information Technology supports Macs, Windows, and Linux. However, some academic colleges and majors require specific computers. Please check with your college or department to make sure you have the correct device.
