 Dr. Fuente's research is situated at the intersection of infrastructure planning, environmental policy, and international development and focuses primarily on the provision of water and sanitation services in low- and middle-income countries. Trained as an environmental economist, urban planner, and environmental scientist, Dr. Fuente has conducted research in Africa (Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Ghana), the Middle East (Egypt), and South Asia (India). In addition to his international work, Dr. Fuente conducts research on the challenge of ensuring universal access to water and sanitation services among Alaska Native communities. Dr. Fuente’s research has been supported by the Environment for Development Initiative, Global Development Network, Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium, World Bank, and the National Science Foundation.
