  • Theatre Careers

Why pursue a degree in theatre?

While many of our alumni have successfully carved out careers as performers, designers and producers of live theatre, the training and education our students receive resonates far beyond the entertainment world. Significantly, theatre students gain confidence, as well as skills in leadership, critical thinking, creative problem solving, collaboration, and oral communication that make them well-suited for a wide variety of professions.

  • Leadership—Motivating and supporting others in the pursuit of an identified goal
  • Critical thinking—Using various types of reasoning to analyze situations and develop well-informed conclusions
  • Creative problem solving—Contemplating traditional and nontraditional methods for solving problems
  • Collaboration—Working effectively and respectfully with a variety of individuals, implementing creative plans with a team, and responding and providing constructive criticism to reach a common goal
  • Oral communication—Effectively articulating ideas in a variety of contexts
