Our Pricing and Procedures
XPS pricing was developed for University of South Carolina users, for non-USC academic investigators and for industrial users. Please download the appropriate spreadsheet, compile the cost estimate calculator, and return with the Sample Information Sheet.
Unfunded USC Users
Unfunded USC users may need XPS analysis of a limited number of samples to support the development of funded projects or to provide key data for a timely publication. Unfunded USC users must submit a brief (1 page maximum) request for free analyses to Dr. Mike Matthews, Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Education. This brief request should include all the information listed on the “XPS User Facility Sample Information Sheet” (attached). In addition, provide the following information:
- Brief justification for why the XPS analysis should be provided free of charge, and what outcomes are expected from the analyses, with an emphasis on how the XPS results will facilitate future funding efforts and collaborations.
- Description of the grant proposals that will be developed with XPS data included. Give the working title of the grant, the funding agency, the estimated date of submission, the estimated amount of total funding, and the estimated amount of costs for XPS services to be included in the grant budget.
Please submit the request as a single .pdf document to Dr. Matthews, matthews@cec.sc.edu, with a copy to Dr. Santosh Kiran Balijepalli, skiran@sc.edu.
Preference for free services will be given to new and non-tenured faculty and to USC faculty who are new users of the XPS.
General Information
All samples must be accompanied by a Sample Information Sheet with account number for charges. Experiments requiring multiple days must be scheduled in advance and may require longer turn-around time.
