Ask me about...

Club sports (specifically Ultimate Frisbee!), Student Government and pre-professional fraternities.

Hey! My name is Liam Chandler, I'm a sophomore English and Geograpghy major with hopes of attending law school later on. I'm a big fan of tossing frisbees, trying new foods, watching football and reading in my spare time. Oh, and I'm gonna be on Survivor one day. Just wait.

  • Hometown: Clemson, SC
  • Major: English and Geography
  • Year: Class of 2027

Why I chose the South Carolina Honors College

The relationships! I've only been here for a year so far but have met some of my favorite people ever. SCHC gives you small school benefits while also having SEC sports to root for!

My advice for prospective students: Remember to sleep.

Favorite Honors class: My favorite Honors class was probably The History of the Middle East before 9/11, taught by Professor Josef Olmert. Professor Olmert was once on Israel's Defense Council and was in charge of brokering a peace deal between Syria and Israel in the 90's, so there isn't much more you could possibly ask for in terms of a professor with experience. It was a once in a lifetime experience.

Favorite question during an information session: What's a benefit of the Honors College that isn't talked about a lot?

For me, one of my favorite things about the Honors College is the fact that you're able to get to know your professors in the Honors classes. I've found that I learn better when I have some sort of relationship with my teachers, and it can sometimes be hard to form those relationships with professors in open lecture classes.
