The South Carolina Honors College offers funding to faculty teaching departmental and signature SCHC courses to facilitate in-class activities, demonstrations and field trips as part of the course. Funding will be provided to proposals seeking to provide experiential learning activities in Honors courses that encourage student reflection on course engagement.
Audience
Full-time faculty and instructors teaching Honors departmental or signature Honors courses.
How to Apply
Complete the application below, including justification for the project with a budget.
- The activity should be completed within the same academic year as one applies. Awardees will be notified of acceptance within two weeks of applying.
- Any required course travel requests (any request requiring a Travel Authorization)
must be submitted by prior to registration for the course. This is to ensure that
the Travel Authorization and any contracts required have time to route through the
approval process.
- Any local required trips that require students to transport themselves should be noted in the course description before registration.
- Any local required travel that you are seeking funding for should be submitted no later than the Add/Drop deadline.
Criteria for Selection
Honors course enrichment funding is competitive. Proposals will be judged using the following criteria:
- Reasonableness of the budget
- Potential for the activity to greatly impact Honors students
- A clear connection of the enrichment to the course’s content and learning outcomes
Applications will be reviewed by the schedule and curriculum coordinator and associate dean. Funding requests that exceed $500 will be reviewed by the Honors College deans and directors.
