The College of HRSM is home to a diverse collection of research centers and institutes dedicated to driving innovation and advancing its industries of hotel management, restaurant management, tourism, retailing, sport management and entertainment management.

Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Travel and Tourism Industry Center

In the spring of 2004, the University of South Carolina launched a comprehensive and inclusive travel and tourism industry research and outreach center as a joint effort of the College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management and the Darla Moore School of Business.

Center for Advancement of Sport and Entertainment

The Center for Advancement of Sport and Entertainment Management provides customized solutions and insights to help companies innovate and accelerate their business. 

College Sport Research Institute

The College Sport Research Institute is dedicated to the awareness of and creative solutions for issues related to the rapidly evolving world of college sport. CSRI brings college sport researchers and thought leaders together for an annual conference to share innovative work and ideas.

International Institute for Foodservice Research and Education

The International Institute for Foodservice Research and Education is dedicated to the advancement of foodservice and hospitality education through research, curriculum development, executive training and consultation.

International Tourism Research Institute

An advocate of the tourism industry, the International Tourism Research Institute focuses on tourism-related issues, providing credible data while promoting the industry as a globally viable economic development strategy.

The Richardson Family SmartState Center of Economic Excellence in Tourism and Economic Development (SmartState Tourism)

As South Carolina's number one industry, tourism has a profound impact on South Carolina's economy. Established in 2010, the center's goal is to encourage research that is to be directly applicable to tourism in South Carolina.
