Dr. James Selph joined the faculty of the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in 2007 after completion of a neurophysiology fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, Tennessee, where he also did his neurology residency. In addition to his appointment in the Department of Neurology, he serves as Director of the Neurophysiology Lab at Prisma Health Richland, Columbia, South Carolina.

After earning a bachelor of science in electrical science and engineering, Dr. Selph completed a masters in electrical engineering and computer science, both from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He received a doctor of medicine from the University of South Florida College of Medicine, Tampa, Florida.

Dr. Selph is a subspecialist in the areas of epilepsy, neuromuscular disorders, nerve conduction studies, EMG, EEG, epilepsy monitoring and clinical neurophysiology. His special interests include these areas, as well as neuroimaging and general neurology.
