Goals and Mission
Our mission is to encourage professional development and growth among students interested in health services policy and management through various programs and activities. Our vision is to help shape the future of healthcare, by developing our members into the kinds of leaders that people want to follow.
What we do
We exist to promote the development of skills necessary for effective leadership in healthcare organizations, and to share information about career opportunities within the field of healthcare policy and management. We provide our members with opportunities to connect with local and regional healthcare organizations, and to network with other students, alumni, faculty, and community leaders. We also participate in various community service events, social gatherings, and programming from professional associations like the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and Medical Group Management Association (MGMA).
For more information, to request a graduate assistant, or to notify HLA of upcoming community events, please email: Will Owings, President at wowings@email.sc.edu.

Membership
HLA primarily serves graduate students in the Department of Health Services Policy & Management at the University of South Carolina's Arnold School of Public Health. Graduate students in other programs may also request membership in HLA based on their career interests in healthcare leadership. Undergraduate students from any major are also invited to apply for associate membership on Garnet Gate at the beginning of each semester.
