Our undergraduate students, Reed Farrar and Kathryn Morgan, have received two Honors
College Research Grants from the office of undergraduate research at the University
of South Carolina. This grant will support their research on understanding the role
of the quality of electrode-neuron interface on perceptual outcomes of cochlear implant
listeners.

Our undergraduate student, Karen Melnik, has received a Magellan Journey Award from
the office of undergraduate research at the University of South Carolina. This grant
will support her research on understanding how adult speakers can adapt their speaking
style to facilitate speech understanding in listeners with cochlear implants.

Our undergraduate student, Shaivee Fozdar, has received a Magellan Journey Award from
the office of undergraduate research at the University of South Carolina. This grant
will support her research on understanding the effects of partially restored auditory
feedback on speech production in cochlear implant listeners.

Dr. Arjmandi was awarded the ASHA Lessons for Success Travel Award by the American
Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) in Rockville, MD. This training aims to
provide specific instruction on how to effectively review research grants and to conduct
reviews of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation research grant applications.
