Teaching Expertise

  • Social Work education
  • Trauma-informed care and trauma-informed educational practice
  • Individual, relational and organizational factors impacting client satisfaction

Margriet de Zeeuw Wright joined the faculty in 2013 and is a clinical associate professor and the site coordinator of the part-time Master of Social Work program in Charleston. The focus of Wright’s current work is facilitating student growth and development, both in and outside of the classroom. She is the faculty advisor for the college’s Social Work Student Association and has served as chair of the Health and Mental Health Children, Youth and Families specializations.

Wright’s research interests include andragogy, trauma-informed social work education, and the complexity of the helping process including the individual, relational, and organizational factors impacting client satisfaction. These interests are translated to students.

Wright began her professional social work career nearly 30 years ago and has experience in direct and indirect practice. She has been an intake worker, clinical counsellor, group worker, supervisor, clinical manager, and consultant, and is attuned to how systems of care can hurt rather than heal.

Wright received her MSW and Ph.D. from Wilfrid Laurier University.
